This is the culture performed, not explained. The Dibasei Cultural Show puts local Garifuna artists in front of your group for 30 minutes of live drumming, dance and song, the traditions that have held Garifuna communities together for generations. You hear the primero and segunda drums played the way they’re meant to be, watch the dances that answer them, and taste Garifuna food alongside the performance.
It’s the counterpart to the hands-on tours. Where the drumming workshop puts an instrument in your hands, the show hands the stage to people who have played and danced these rhythms their whole lives. Good for families, groups celebrating something, or anyone who wants the music without the lesson.

It’s performed for you at the Dibasei office, and it runs on request rather than a fixed showtime, so book ahead.

The Dibasei office in Livingston. Walk over if you’re staying in town, or come in by lancha if you’re visiting just for the show.

Only if you’re not already in Livingston. The town is boat-only. Lanchas run from Puerto Barrios in about 30 minutes and from Río Dulce in roughly 90. Boat fare isn’t included.
